I have spent time wondering if therapy was right for me. My initial therapy session, not with Linda, scared me off from therapy for a bit. However, after I had the courage to start back up again, Linda made me feel supported and understood. She was able to understand my goals and expectations for therapy and ensure that we worked on progressing those as much as possible. She allowed me the space to share how things are, provide meaningful feedback where I knew she listened and understood my point of view, and also shared some tools or ideas that could be beneficial for my well-being. As a veterinarian, I had always been stressed and anxious with the responsibilities of the profession. I had begun going to therapy as my anxieties had become exacerbated by the pandemic. In therapy with Linda, I realized that some of these anxieties were self driven and related to my own high expectations. I was able to self reflect and determine what was most important to me. As a result, I made changes to my work situation that allowed me better work-life balance and pursuit of my interests. Linda also helped me address issues with my relationships with my family, significant others and friends. I learned to accept things that I could not change and focus on things within my control.
